This HSW Technical Workshop for volunteers and members will focus on the “Emergency Notification” features of smartphones that you may not know these features exist.

Tim Ketchmark and the HSW technology team will take all attendees through the steps of setting up their smartphones to make Emergency-SOS calls to 911, alert their "Key Contacts of an Emergency Situation," and provide "Key Medical Information to Emergency Medical Response Personnel."

This will be a highly interactive workshop. Those attending should bring their smartphone. Both Android and iOS (iPhones) smartphones will be covered.

Note: Those attending will get the most from this workshop if they come with the following information written on paper so that they can program it into their phone:

  • Names and cell numbers of your top three emergency contacts.

  • Any medical information you would want emergency personnel to know, such as diabetes, arrhythmia, pacemaker, allergies, or medications.

  • Other pertinent medical notes - Blood type, age, weight, etc.
