We communicate and coordinate with organizations that offer useful services and programs to our members and volunteers

Here to Stay in Wintergreen is eager to talk with like-minded organizations to explore ways we can better serve our members and community by working together. Contact us at cooperate@HereToStayWTG.org.

Wintergreen Police

Having a private full-service proactive community-based certified law enforcement agency is one of the major reasons why the Wintergreen community is exceptional. There are several services and programs our police department offers that coordinate well with Here to Stay in Wintergreen’s goals and objectives.

  • House Watch is a program whereby patrol officers check your home while you are away. Homeowners simply contact the department and advise the police when they are leaving and returning. Learn more.

Wintergreen Fire & Rescue

With the mission of preserving life and promoting health and safety in the community, the goals of our community’s fire and rescue organizations align with those of Here to Stay in Wintergreen. Below are some of their special services and programs especially useful to HSW members.

  • Knox Box This UL-listed box on your home allows our fire department access to the property in an emergency without having to cause damage through forcible entry. Learn more & register here.

  • 911 Address Signage– Fire and Rescue will install reflective address signs approved by the Wintergreen Property Owners Association. Go here.

Wintergreen Property Owners Association

Besides being the organizational power behind Wintergreen’s fire, rescue, and police services, WPOA maintains our roads (including plowing snow) and is the home of Wintergreen’s Architectural Review Board. Here to Stay in Wintergreen relies on WPOA’s Tuckahoe Clubhouse.

Jefferson Area Board on Aging

JABA works to “promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging.” Based in Charlottesville, JABA serves six Central Virginia localities, including Nelson County. See how we are working with JABA here.

Meals on Wheels

In 2023 Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville-Albemarle expanded its services to the Nellysford-Afton area of Nelson County, including Wintergreen. Learn more about how HSW is working with this proven program.

Rockfish Valley Community Center

The RVCC’s primary mission is to offer a venue for cultural, recreational, social, and educational activities. HSW has partnered with HSW to bring Meals on Wheels to the area. It is not only the site of the Care Fair but also an active co-sponsor of the program.

The Nelson Enrichment Club

The Nelson Enrichment Club (NEC) is a new initiative with Here To Stay Wintergreen, Rockfish Presbyterian Church and Blue Ridge Medical Center to offer respite care for those with mild to moderate dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Care will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm weekly.
