JFK and Vietnam: The Hidden Strategy Behind It All
Virginia Festival of the Book Event
Ride the HSW bus to the UVA Bookstore in Charlottesville to hear author and historian, Marc Selverstone, discuss his new book, The Kennedy Withdrawal: Camelot and the American Commitment to Vietnam. Click to read more about the book and lecture.
After the lecture, we will take a short walk to the student center cafeteria to have lunch on our own. After lunch, we can tour the UVA Edgar Shannon Library, or you can view the special exhibits in the Harrison-Small building next to the main building. The current exhibit there is “Anne Spencer: I Am Here!” Celebrating the life and legacy of Anne Spencer — Harlem Renaissance poet; civil rights activist; librarian and educator; avid reader and prolific writer.
The shuttle will leave Tuckahoe at 8:30 a.m. The lecture is from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m., but we are advised to be at the bookstore by 9:30 a.m. After lunch and our visit to the UVA Library, we will depart UVA at 1:30 p.m. and head home.
Tickets and transportation are free, but we can take only the first eleven people to RSVP.
