George Worthington, Dementia Services Coordinator for Virginia’s Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.
He will discuss the availability of community services for persons with dementia and for their caregivers. His presentation will also cover the signs and symptoms of dementia.

About the speaker
As the Dementia Services Coordinator for Virginia's Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, George Worthington supports the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Commission, drives the implementation of the Dementia State Plan, reviews existing programs, and works with other agencies to more effectively deliver services to Virginians living with dementia.
George is also the convener of Dementia Friendly Central Virginia, a group working to raise awareness of dementia in the Charlottesville area to enable people living with dementia and their care partners and families to remain engaged with the community, and chairs the Social Engagement workgroup of the Charlottesville Area Alliance, the group working on the AARP Livable Communities initiative in Charlottesville and surrounding counties.
George worked at JABA, the Area Agency on Aging serving Charlottesville and neighboring counties, where he led programs supporting older residents including people living with dementia and their caregivers.
