Introducing the Rockfish Enrichment Club (REC): A Social Model of Dementia Care
The mission of the Rockfish Enrichment Club (REC) is to enhance quality of life for adults living with memory loss through an engaging and supportive program; to provide valuable respite time to caregivers; and to offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for the broader community. Supported by experienced staff and specially-trained community volunteers, the REC program is a secular, non-medical model.
REC will meet twice per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10AM to 2PM, at the Rockfish Presbyterian Church (5016 Rockfish Valley Hwy, in Nellysford).
It will offer social and self-enrichment activities for individuals with dementia and Parkinson’s, while also giving caregivers a much-needed break. Activities will include:
Music and the arts
Brain games
Physical fitness
Pet therapy
Socialization activities
REC is offered in partnership with Here to Stay in Wintergreen, the Blue Ridge Medical Center, and the Rockfish Presbyterian Church.
